Useful information
In Austria, certified translations must bear the handwritten signature of the certified legal translator and his/her official seal. Only certified legal translators may use a seal to certify their translations. Certified legal translators can only certify translations into the languages for which they are certified.
To verify the authenticity of a translator’s signature and seal, clients can check the official lists of the Austrian courts (https://sdgliste.justiz.gv.at/edikte/sv/svliste.nsf/welcoma?Openform).
As official documents, certified translations of birth certificates, police records, diplomas, etc. are accepted by Austrian authorities. Translations used abroad may require an apostille or the specific authentication required by a given country.
